Most recently I've been working on pieces for my college portfolio for my application. There are a lot more of these, but I just loved this one the most out of all of them. I'm still a little worried about my portfolio though.. What if I don't do things properly..? Do art colleges even accept SAI or anime style art? I just... I dunno. I have about 2 years to get things sorted out, but god this is stressful.... One thing's for certain though, I want to go to college and peruse a career in character design.

This piece is absolutely gorgeous and has so much meaning behind it, it's wonderful tQAQt~<3 The bright colors are very appealing as well as the composition, the subject of the piece is well placed and draws the eye directly to it, while accenting it nicely with the soft blue background. The stylized clouds look lovely and spread out nicely, and the transparent balloons add am appealing, whimsical touch~ Plus the extra small details of the splatter effects and white lines add substance to the painted sky. The character's clothing, pose, anatomy and color scheme are all very well done, I can honestly say I find no flaws with it. It is possible for the shading to be criticized for lack of depth and texture, but it's clear that that was the style that was intended, and it just looks nice anyway, so //ming The whole concept of the piece is very well expressed by the different elements used: The impression that is given by the television head, carefree composure and bright colors with an overlay of surreality is one of someone who is content with viewing the world only as they wish to see it, or are happily spending their time in the whimsical fantasy land inside their head. The cupcakes create a bubbly feel, as well as the four color rainbow which also provides balance for the composition. The fact that the television itself is retro style adds even more to the ideal-fantasy-over-reality concept. It is a brilliant piece, and personally I would pay good money to use it uvu You're off to an outstanding start CC, more pieces like this will guarantee your success in the future!

When I went for an art scholarship in my college, she allowed my anime style because of how it was shaded. The actual anime style they get sooo often these days, they don't really like it.
So while it's okay, it's really best to make a very diverse portfolio and include some more realistic art pieces in it.

When you present your portfolio, make sure it's neat, tidy, and well organized.
Only pick your absolute best pieces to be included.

The idea of a portfolio is to show that you're a strong artist and that you have many skills to offer and let grow. :') So try a lot of things. Realism, landscapes, character design, digital art, traditional art.
